SOME SCROTE SMASHED INTO ME THIS MORNING
Discussion
Plodding to work this morning, thinking of my new car arriving this weekend and how pleased I was to sell the TVR so quick and WHAM! Kid in his Datsun Almera slammed me in the back at a rate of notts, bumper, lights and fibreglass smashed - Im gutted, had to put the buyer off for a week until repair is done. Thats if he still wants it. Chim looks so sad.

Sorry to hear of your shunt. Is it just me or are the worst driver's on the road the people with "normal" cars? And yet we get hammered for insurance. Most of the people I know with performance cars are considerate and careful because they love their motors!
My top hates are;
1. BMWs. Apologies to any Pistonhead with one. Ah yes, the new BMW with no handbrake, no clutch, no, gear shift...no steering wheel! Just a two position switch marked "badly parked" and "120mph, 2 inches from the car in front, lights flashing"
2. People carriers & 4 X 4 things. Never go off road, never have more than 1 person in them, give the driver a feeling of utter invunerability and utterly destroy anything they hit.(I was in a Metro hit by a Landy - it became a mini, mini metro!)
3. VW Polo TDI. A new one this and a strange phenomenon. The TDI has replaced the AStravan as the world's fastest car. You leave a stopping distance in front of you, there's 2 clear miles behind. The TDI pulls in right in front of you.
I'll stop ranting and get back to work now.

don't you know? when you buy a bmw or merc you're given a certificate that declares you own the road.

I had a ten year old 318i in Johannesburg and one morning while feeling mischevous me and a buddy drove into the BMW driving school in Midrand, halfway beteen Johannesburg and Pretoria and asked the security guy on the gate if this was the place you come to learn how to drive like a twat.
We were ejected quite smartly from the premises
Hey - that's too bad, Vinny.
Hope you're with one of the modern insurance companies that seem to get things done quickly. Some teenage twat rammed my wife's car from the side recently - needed two door panels and rear wing. Was in the shop and back to us valeted and in perfect condition again within 14 days! A total surprise - had expected around 2-3months!
Hope this doesn't put off your buyer. Shame it wasn't the front - you could have gotten the stonechips done at the same time!

Not good news, Vinny, but if you escape the whiplash, fair do's. Hate to say it, but I'd rather crash the Tiv than have to suffer whiplash for three months again. The HEADACHE - aaaaaaaaargh......... seriously unfunny
- genuinely hoping you got away with it, Tant.I was driving the car that I had sold, it is my daily driver, I have been so careful since the guy put a deposit on it, parking no where near other cars, being totally curtious to others to avoid confrontation, had a new toy awaiting me for this Saturday, thats out the window. Luckily the kid stopped, I got all his details and a claim is going through, like to see his premium next year. So glad I went on that stress management course, he would be eating hospital food for a week, as it is he got a gob full from me. Ho Hum.

I can confirm this about certain BMW drivers but we have to be slective about this. Not all BMW drivers are the scum of the earth, but the vast majority of those who are do seem to be driving BMWs (and Mercs and SUVs).
The last ding I got into was in my former, beloved 1983 Delorean. I was in a carpark and some complete tool pulled out of a spot in front of me in his high-gloss-black 7-Series (while on the phone, of course) and reversed right into my car.
The Delorean has a really anemic horn and the noise probably didn't penetrate the double-glazed windows or the cement in this guy's head. But I started to back up as he was coming at me and the result was that the nose of my car gouged a massive chasm in his (up-til-that-moment) beautiful paintwork and a nasty dent in both front and rear door panels while doing only trivial damage to the plastic nose section of my car (didn't even touch the stainless steel).
So, for me at least, there was some justice and satisfaction. I don't want to think about what it cost this guy's insurance company to repair his car. For me it was some spare moments on the following Saturday with a little cheap filler and some touch-up paint.

Sad Vinny! Was it a boy racer pratt? I have a lot of problems with these halfwits driving up my backside thrashing their four-pot heaps (OO does 'e think 'e is rich bastard I'll show 'im). I hope the little shit is insured properly--he'll be really popular with his company when renewal date comes up.

Apology accepted! I have a modified E28 M5 churning out about 320bhp so it moves. Oddly I get more adverse reaction when overtaking with the Chim--I think it must be the straight-through exhaust. The bimmer doesn't seem to worry anybody--but who could turn green at the sight of an old and rather ugly car(hee hee--little do they know)
