Leaves on the line....no in the engine !

Had a bit of a scare yesterday. Set off from work in the TVR and had only gone a few hundred yards when I noticed what seemed to be a puff of smoke from under the bonnet.
I couldn't smell anything unusual and the smoke could have been dust blown up from the road....
At the next set of traffic light there it was again, so I jumped out and lifted the bonnet...there was a trail of smoke wafting over the engine from the other side :eek:. I ran round to see exactly where it was comming from and found that a couple of leaves had blown into the engine bay and lodged themselves in amongst the exhaust manifold. They were all charred and glowing red at the edges with smoke drifting off them.... :D panic over !

I've got the same mesh in place. Its just held in with a heck of a lot of mastic. It looks dead good, much better than nothing 
In my Volvo 850 a few years ago we were filming in a field. For a laugh on the way out me and my mate decided to splosh at high speed through the filthy mucky puddles of water on the farm gate and down the farm track.
The car was utterly filthy when we got to the road, it was pretty damn funny seeing a lovely metallic silver 850 estate covered in brown mud.
It stopped being funny though when the engine dried the mud out, and the smell started getting in the cabin

how did you secure the mesh to the underside of the bonnet ?
Also what mesh is this (where from ) ?
I like the idea + am considering meshing the front grill area now that I have lowered the numberplate.
It is held in with P40. I just cut one long strip and bent it into shape with my hands and then stuck it in! Had to hold it in place for about 5 mins. Then i sprayed the P40 Black and it looks good even on the inside. Got the mesh from Halfrauds for about £17.
