Headlight Glass
Discussion
On the way back from Le Mans yesterday I decided to have a fight with a cross channel ferry. The ferry won... Totally my mistake and these things happen I guess.
Is it possible to fit a new glass lens as is, or will I need to also remove the cowl ?
I'd rather not go down the road of a front end respray for the time being and would prefer to just have everything sealed up and working properly as, from a few feet away, its not massively noticeable now I've done some polishing.

From inside the grill, you will find either M6 nuts and or fly nuts onto bonded on studs to inside bottom of the cowl and a single penny washer on each nut, which will fall away if you are not careful (if anyone has been in there before fly nuts) and they undo, above between the cowl and the shell there are penny washers that stack the cowl away from the shell (they need to go back as were), then with saw blade that has had it's teeth dressed away, to use as a blade (wrapped in duct tape to create a long sharp blade), you blade the stikaflex that has used to stick the top of the cowl to the shell (all very carefully as to not damage the cowl or the shell...refitting is the reverse.
The glass 'should' AS OE, be fitted with a bonded in place ringlet of rubber (a Mercedes part) and it pries up to slot the replacement glass in (OR if you read up on anywhere, DIY'ers miss that seal and chop it out, not knowing the seal is even there and then that too will be bonded in with stikaflex. A@
PS do not try to abrade/clean the chrome reflector it will simply show up as copper...and you will ruin it.
