The Chimeara really isnt designed for Smartphones, a good thing I agree BUT, there are times when I want to use satnav. Ive looked at the Pioneer SPH-10BT and this seems like a good plug & play solution but before going down that route has anyone any experience of fitting one or would an Android Auto head unit be a better way forward.

Would be neat running Rover Gauge RV8 diagnostics on a head unit smile
Although I put the same old Pioneer system in all (4 at the time) cars, because I got fed up learning different setup and controls.

Was that the Pioneer SPH-10BT, if so are there any issues or is it a direct replacement?

I hadn't thought of running RG on a HU, that would indeed be very cool

I've thought about this too.

Does anyone know if having RG hooked up to the ECU impacts operation it in anyway? IIRC it has a little 8bit CPU so I would imagine just servicing interrupts for the serial port is going to use a % of CPU time...
