Well, I have take the plunge and picked up a very tidy Chimaera 400HC finished in Star Mist green with sand&cream interior.
I must admit it was the first one I looked at,but the pevious owner was a true enthusiast ,service history/repair invoices was spot on and all the stone chips has been corrected.
After a week of ownership, I am still grinning...and the roof has not been up (Its not my everyday car,so I have a normal tin top to use in the wet!) I did have to raise the drivers seat though as i am only 5"6' tall and got fed up of looking at the o/s/f wiper arm!!
Sure, I have found a couple of thing wronf that I intend to correct. The drivers side exhaust manifold gasket as gone as it now has a annoying tick when cold and the o/s/r wheel bearing has a slight rumble. A local TVR specialist (Horizon Motorsport in the West Midlands)was very helpfull in conferming what was wrong with the car and quoted £216.00 to fix the two faults......but thats it. No overheating,cam wear or any other niggles.
And the reason to the story, if you are not yet a owner....Find a nice one,buy it and enjoy it!

If you're mechanically minded, both jobs that need doing are fairly straightforward, albeit the manifold problem is a bit fiddly. Having said that, £216 seems a very reasonable price for the work and it saves lying in the rain getting your hands dirty!

....Thanks Andy. I thought £216.00 was a good price, but as I know one end of a spanner from another, I am going to do the exhaust manifold gaskets myself.
The wheel bearing I am going to let the specialist do. I think that not only is it safety related repair (i.e. If I goof and the wheel falls off!) But I could do with having a "good relationship" with the people who look after my car, any future problems and I hope that I would get good service and not be noticed as the "time waister who goes for free advice" every time something goes wrong.

My wife is the local RO for Staffs - it is the nearest region and we draw from all over the place
We live in Shrops also (M/Drayton)
