ok you mottley lot...

happily making my way to brum on the M6. PSI shows me that my oil pressure is suddenely 90...(eek)
Major Panic...
normally runs at 30.
No oil light on no smoke running fine.
pull into services cannot see anything.
so off I go.
Arrive at destination and car is fine.

meter rises with just the ignition turned on and no engine running..

so is it the wiring to the meter?
The oil pressure Sender.
or what...???

anyone had this problem.

Hi Jessica,

I am a little new to all this TVR fun, But sounds to me like a pressure sensor failure or at the outside,possable gauge fault.

Although, as you were on the "M6 around Birmingham" which is my local haunt, perhaps its the Birmingham Triange...In that case is simply 'Witch craft"

When my oil pressure sender went, it was reading 90 without the engine running. I think they must be designed to read high when faulty so you dont have a heart attack (i.e. suddenly dropping to zero)

I had similiar fault, plumped for the sender and changed that, turned out to be the gauge. Only certain way is to couple a seperate oil line and gauge to the engine and check the pressure. You will then know wether to change the gauge or sender.

The wire has probably dropped off the sender and is flapping in the breeze. Have a quick buthchers underneath.

Actualy it will be th eopposite - without the wire the guage will nto move - over reading coul be oil ont he wiring earthing the spade connector.

Don't forget to take your shades off first.

no loose or dirty wires to report.
so I guess its live with it or get a new oil sender fitted and suck it and see.

You'll get a mouthful of oil doing that
