Plug shroud adapters.

Guys,

One of the metal adapter things that goes on between the spark plug and HT leads has died a death due to heat from the manifold and i am looking at ordering a replacement before the lead that is currently directly on the plug melts.

TVR Gear have it listed as a "Chimaera - PLUG SHROUD ADAPTOR" part number CHM-E0142, can anyone confirm if this is the right thing before i go ahead and order it?

Also, is it worth ordering more than just the one that has failed incase the rest are on their way out? If so are they on all the plugs or just the ones at the back really close to the manifold?

They are a vauxhall cavalier part and cost about £8 each. You should be able to get them from you local vauxhall dealer. If not then ACT do them as well. I would change all 8 as they do fail because of the heat.

Dumb question but one i have wandered about...why cant you just use NGK sparkplug caps...either the straight ones or 90 deg elbow ones.

They come in resistive (Vauxhall oe) and non-resistive (ACT) versions. Don't just buy one or you might end up with 7 of one and 1 of the other.

I can recommend the ACT shrouds. Half the price of the others and they work very well. Have a chat with Tim at ACT.

I'll second that.
Have just fitted them with new plugs and coil.

and they are nice and shiny too

Got mine from ACT last week.

A damn sight cheaper than the fifty quid paid by somebody on Ebay for exactly the same product.

If your reading this Mr successful bidder; shame on you.

Check the price of things in the real world before bidding.


The new shrouds haven't made a hell of a lot of difference.

But hey! Who cares, they're nice and shiny...................

I also bout new ones from that nice Mr. ACT a couple of years ago - because mine were cruddy.

I hear on the grapevine that Leven are testing some verrrry nice Bosch ones which don't go cruddy.

and they don't require a tiny allen key to fit them either
