No actual point to this thread other than to share my joy at hearing the engine of my chim start for the first time in 5 months. Just completed (at last) engine rebuild with fast road cam and stage 3heads. What a noise!!!!! Vvrrruuuummmm. I won't be popular with the neighbours. Picking it up tomorrow and I know it will be hard to sleep tonight!:cloud9:

What work have you have done? Who did the work? Why 5 months!? Have you got to run it in?

The car went in for MOT in June but failed on emissions. I knew it needed a new cam so decided on getting engine rebuild with new cam and heads as wanted a bit more ooomph and I had been saving for this. Unfortunately, as it had only gone in for MOT it was about 3 weeks before engine removal could begin. The engine went to V8 developments and was away for another month or so. On arrival back, I have had to wait ages for an special adjustablefuel regulator. The initial first choice had not arrived after about 4 weeks so an alternative was sourced which arrived last week. It just needs a bit of tuning with the new regulator and MOT tomorrow morning. All work has bee done at RT racing in Sheffield. Richard has been great and has found the wait as frustrating as I have, as my car has been taking up very valuable space in his workshop! It will be worth the wait. It's just a shame I missed summer.

Which engine is it? What heads has it now got? Which cam have you gone for?

So are you planning to use a higher fuel pressure and a remap to add more fuel where needed?

I know what you mean about missing the summer, I had the same, and boy do you notice how many sunny days we had when you're without your convertible car

It's a 450. The standard fuel regulator provides about 38 psi as I understand. The new regulator ups that a few PSI. Being adjustable I can get away without remapping the ECU. Of course it may benefit from a remap and ideally would be set up on a rolling road. Until Jools get his RR fitted, we don't have one round here. If I find it too rough, I will pay him a visit in November. In the mean time I trust RT. If I can get away without a £800 new ECU and RR session I will!
