will start won't start

Starting problem appears to be intermittent. The fan comes on when the ignition is switched on after being rested for a week. So wont start. Disconnect the fan switch, engine starts?? Any thoughts?

do you mean the otter switch or a mod?

could it be the current drain from the fan is lowering the cranking or spark?

disconnect otter, then if car starts, replace otter switch is my first suggestion

That's what I thought. so off to the pet shop and bought a new otter. Just having it in the car has reduced the problem to one in every three starts!! Still

If its failing to turn over, its ready for the hot start problem to occur. Drop of supply voltage to the solenoid, not enough to pull it in. The same would occur if headlights etc were on.
