Starts fine, idles about 850 - 1000
Oil pressure 45+ dropping to 30 on idle when warm
Temp guage a bit weird (?)- after a 12 mile run in the morning it still only shows 70. In the evening gets to about 80 if I go even further. Fans cut in if I leave it to idle when I get home at about 85, but temp still rises to 90+ when they switch off. Temp stays at 90+ and will only drop down if i go for a drive and get wind blowing through.
All the time the car feels lumpy and not very happy! Not much in the way of acceleration until about 3,000 rpm when it seems to get going.
Mate of mine left me standing in my Volvo T4 at the weekend! Done some searches and wonder if its the engine temp sensor or the stepper motor (although its just had a full service at Austec)may be the fuel relays?
Any ideas?

Doesn't sound like stepper motor or relay to me. I'd guess you have a faulty sensor, perhaps coolant or lambda. I suggest you take it somebody who can check for fault codes and check the sensors out.

If its just had a service, why don't you take it back to them and get them to do a proper job. Don't let these people get away with it.

To be fair, reading blujays previous posts reveals all was well at the service. So the final test run as part of the service wouldnt have reealed anything, looks like its happened scince. The water temp indication behaviour sounds very normal as the gauge 'lies' on the run, especially at this time of year due to the sensor being chilled by the airflow over it.Modwise sell a very good and cheap fix for this if you cant live with it.Oil pressure also sounds about right.
Cant really help much further beyond doing as Peter suggests sorry.

Temp sensor for fans and for ecu are different, so I'd have thought these are not likely candidates. If it's just been serviced, check the spark plugs are tight and leads are securely fitted to the plugs. Was the coolant changed? Might be worth checking the level and bleeding the radiator.

Have to be fair, I am very happy with Austec. this has been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. Thought i could live with it until the T4 left me standing, accelerating down a straight dual carriageway!
Booked into Walldenway on thursday (only because they are nearer)so I'll let you know what they come up with.
Thanks for all the advise

3100RPM is a critcal point in the rev range for a cat car. Below this engine speed the mixture is adjusted by the Lambda sensors, and above it they have no influence.

If the car runs fine above this point, then it most likely has a dead or dying Lambda sensor.

Turns out the plugs, leads and suppressor caps are knackered, oh and the camshaft needs replacing! Luckily the car came from a dealer and so the warranty will pick up the camshaft up to a max £2,000 any one claim. Anybody know how much this should cost?
So much for buying a low mileage full TVR history car.........never mind, better sorted before the warranty runs out

I'll go back to Austec if its looking too rediculous and over the warranty limit.

For the plugs, leads and surpressor caps to be knackered, just after a service, sounds bad

yes, it does sound strange, although it was running fine after the service.
Walldenway have said that they could deteriorate very quickly, but I agree in less than 200 miles could be pushing it a bit.

My point was that it seems very unlucky for all of these to be faulty together,so soon after service.I would personally make sure that all these things genuinely are faulty. You'd be the unluckiest person going to loose a cam, leads, caps and plugs(changed every service,so something very wrong there)after only 200 miles from being fine imho.Hope it all works out for you, cheers,Mike

Thanks Mike, I'll keep all the old parts and check them out. If the plugs dont look new then i guess a call to Austec will be in order. I am trying to believe that everything was done as per the service,as they were really nice guys and seemed to know what they were doing. Sounds like some others have had some problems too. I hope your breakdown didnt ruin your Le Mans trip Hughsie......

Just so that you realise i'm objective, what i really mean is that it could just as easily be the people telling you these things are broken, when infact they arent, iyswim.Go carefull, and let us know how you get on
