MIL light on

Hooning up the A3 today, my MIL light came on. The car showed no adverse signs at all. Running smooth, fuel consuption OK, no smoke coming out of the rear. Running like clockwork, actually. I have driven 130 miles, and it still seems fine.

What will cause it to come on? I have one of Mr Adams' chips, incidentally.

when mark put a chip in mine, about one hour later the MIL light came on and i had to take it back to austac a few weeks later, it turned out to be a broken wire under the gear box tunnel.
