Wheels - will these fit or cause problems?

I'm looking at a new set of wheels for my Chim but am unsure of the sizes - could anybody tell me if these are likely to fit and whether they'll cause any problems.
Need to check on offsets but want to make sure on the overall sizes first of all;
Front - 235/40/17
Rear - 215/45/17

Those are tyre sizes mate.

Your wheels should be 15 inch front and 16 inch rear as standard diameter. I think the wheels are 7 inch but might be wrong on the width. You will also need to know the offset.

Wasn't sure if the wheel size would be included with that of the tyre. The wheels I'm looking at are 2nd hand and these are the sizes I've been given though I'll get the chap to check on the actual rim width as well. He's trying to find out the offset for me though I believe that an ET30 all round should be fine?
They have actually come off a Chim (though are aftermarket) but theres so many stories of people having fitted incorrect wheels I just want to make sure before purchasing them.
I'm basically trying to move away to something a little bigger and different to the 15/16 standards but without upsetting to much the handling of the car.

Talk to Corin Denton (Bomber Denton) he has 17's all round on his Chim.

I think the offset should be fine - sounds right

17's will deffo fit, I've seen 18's too.

Yep the offsets and sizes are fine, if you are buying the tyres new just be careful, on some Chimaeras 215/45x17 can foul the battery tray on the near side inner wheel arch. This is not the case for all cars but due to different tolerances in the moulding process this can happen.

I would prefer to have the wider tyres on the rear myself...

I have got 17's all roound tyre sizes are 225/45 and 215/40.

Must admit i did get some rubbing when i had two suitcases in the boot!!!

With ET30 you will get zero rubbing, you should see how low my car was going to Le Mans!
