First time and only an Inch!

The first time I have left the car out for any length of time (parked up whilst on a cruise) and I got an inch of water behind the drivers seat. Thought it would be on the passenger side or even in the boot but they were bone dry.

So how long does it take to dry out?

Depends on how many more times it rains!

In this cold weather, it will never dry out.

Best get some towels in there and soak it all up. Then either move it somewhere warm (like a garage), or drive it with the heat on full blast and the window slightly open.

Sounds like you just need to re-proof the hood, Thomsons water seal (FOR FABRIC, NOT BRICKS) is good stuff, and very easy to apply. Easy to remove from the paintwork if you splash it as well.

Mine isn't leaking, but my garage is. Its down 3' from the garden, and gets some seepage, so its pretty damp in there most of the time. I've taken to leaving a greenhouse tube heater on the parcel shelf, mounted on an MDF board.
