Tyre pressures

Had my new tyres fitted today.

Toyo proxes on the back 245/45/16 (£211 delivered)and dunlop sp9000 on the front 205/55/15 (£162 delivered) from www.blackcircles.co.uk off this web site. £47 fitted.

I am looking at the owners manual and the standard tyres are 22 in the front and 24 for the rear.

Just checking this is correct. The fitters put them all at 33?

Also the book says 225/45/16 for the rear so will the extra width need more or less pressure?

Toyo's have less rigid side walls so you need to compensate by increasing the pressure. There's no right or wrong answer, it's down to how the car rides. Perhaps start by adding 2psi to the book value. Don't go above 26 on the road though. The tyre fitters always put 30ish psi in to bed the bead onto the rim. Just let the air out.

I set them at 25 front and 26 back after they fitted them. The front was well over because the car felt like it had power steering.

It still feels a bit loose on the front but that might be that the old tyres were so worn.

I will play it by feel for a couple of days and see how it is then.

After some fiddling, my Toyos are 23F/25R - very happy with performance

What toyos have you got on the front?

I wanted a matching set but they dont do the t1-r in my size for the front.

I have Toyo T1-R 205-55-15 on my Chimaera, although at the moment they are only available in V rating, but my insurer had no problem with that.

I did a search for toyos in that size and couldnt find them. Never mind i will have tp put up with odd tyres.

Tyres seam better today any way so i think i will go with 25 front and 26 back.
