Boot catch cable sticking??

Hi I have the opposite problem to everyone else - boot opens a treat but won't shut unless I manually pull the cable back - don't know whether the problem is weak spring in the catch or sticking cable. The end of the cable that attaches to the latch seems to float free - the cable sleave doesn't fit into a retainer like on the bonnet release - is this correct ?

Does nayone know the parts nos. for the cable/latch and/or alternative components that'll work. how hard is it to change the cable ? I've replaced my bonnet release cable before and that wasn't a problem but this one seems to dissappear into the body work...

Mark, can't remember how the cable outer is retained. I can have a look at mine tomorrow maybe. If it's the catch that's knackered I have a spare I bought and didn't need. In my case I had 'modified' the carpet-covered piece of ally which always falls down when you open the boot. In repositioning it with a clenched fist, I had managed to 'hang-up' the cable so boot wouldn't latch properly. Went to fit new catch and discovered my problem.

Would appreciate it if you could see how/if the cable sleave is retained at the catch end, then at least I know if that's the problem - I suspect it's a sticking cable, the latch looks OK.

Right. Well on mine at least there isn't a cable outer - just the inner bowden-type with solderless nipples (screw-in) each end. Took some pics to show.
