Torque setting for Shock absorber Mounting Bolts
Discussion
After a spot of zealous chassis cleaning I removed one of the front shock absorbers to treat the bottom mounting. I have replaced the nyloc nuts but does anyone know the torque setting for the top and bottom shock absorber mounting bolts, if different? Is there a list of the torque values for common components anywhere? I now need some sun glasses the whiteness is so bright!! Thanks guys
Assuming you've got bushes (rather than spherical bearings) take up the slack, put the weight back onto the wheels and then just nip the bolt up. The bush needs to be able to move relative to the chassis as the suspension moves, and if you tighten it up far enough to prevent this then the bush has to shear instead - in which case the bush won't last long.

And they squeak like F
K, which is enough reason not to tighten them up on full droop.chassis 33 said:
While we're on the subject, has anyone a list of bolts needed to put fresh in all the suspension? Indeed does anyone sell kits?
BUGSY...Sort it out lad, it saves me getting the vernier out!

Blimey the last time I used a Vernier or micrometer was about 1970 when I finished my toolmaking training, would you trust me to read one correctly? I don't think so.
I'll get the sizes off Mr Batty, he changes them as a matter of course.
Talking about testing, I'm forgetting you will be putting the Bushes through some severe testing as well. (if you can keep the car away from barriers, walls etc.
