Not long had my Chimaera with only 7k miles on it. Only problem seems to be that is is riding high at the back compared to other Chimaeras [can get hand on end in between tyre and arch] Any ideas?

Check out what shocks are on it and see if they are adjustable spring seats, if so adjust but if you change anything, probably best to get a geo check.

Maybe get DG to check it, they will tell you the score

The only other thing it could be if they are standard Billys, is that somebody has put stiffer or longer springs on the car.

Depending on how wide your hand is, that could be alright. There are many cars out there that have been lowered either deliberately or through neglect/knackered components.

Further to the other comments....assume you have standard wheels and tyres? 16"" on the rear and the correct tyre profile?

Seems a fair old gap, Yes had complete standard wheels and tyres on. Steve, it looks almost like a late seventies 'jack up kit' has been fitted if you know what I mean. Well, not quite but definate slope from rear to front.
Just fitted 17's with lower profile tyre to give same [near as dammit] rolling radius so problem is same.

After you look at them side profile for a while they do have an arse high attitude anyway, but you did say compared to others so I presume you have done aside by side comparison. It does have the right tyre profile on the back? Three fingers is a pretty normal sort of measure (and a useful measure for many things in life I've found, but lets not go there ) - unless you have small hands a whole hand would be an inch or so higher than the norm.

Mine road pretty high at the back before I stuck Leda's on.

Was 655mm rear from the true base of the inner arch, and 605 on the front.

Now about 605 and 645 looks about right now. Very slightly nose down.

Of course many people get hung-up on visuals when what really matters is how the car drivers .. do you have any handling issues or do you just want the car to look "racey".

Also don't forget that when you get in the car you're closer to teh back than teh front, so the back will go down further so evening up the look when you're driving it. If you start witha car that's level or very close then yuo may end up with a nose-high attitude when you're actually in it, not good ...

If your 17's are more or less the same rolling rad,you should have aprrox 150 to 153mm ground clearence to the chassis rails.
I would'nt worry about vissuals,my rear gaurds had 10mm discrepencie.

What causes crashing at the rear more stiff springs or to higher setting on adjuster.

Mine fine for most - but on pot holes or sharp ridges - bugger me!

might sound obvious but .. try turning *adjuster* and find out? then try some different springs? I stopped using leda dampers so don't have any recent info.

Crashing normally comes from the dampers, but check you aren't running out of travel and hitting the bump stops or end stops.

Will do as I got springs from him. 8" spring riding about half way up the treaded part of the tube. 24 clicks on Ledas - tried between 8 and 11. Really crashes badly on pot holes where std stuff just floated over most stuff.

Compared to every other it is high. Not THAT heavy at 12 stone. Think visuals have to be right really, it's a TVR after all. Will do the chassis rail clearance measurement and [try] post a picture.

Good point Peter, I've had a look at the photos of the Leda's and both front and back have the same small extensions, its probably bottoming out.

I'll see if Dave will doctor them as a gesture of goodwill and check the valving Jon.

Rears do have a 3/4 - 1" stickup over the fronts - talk tomorrow. I can easily wip them off and get them off to you for a check over (use old rears for bit).
