Steve Howard is a top bloke and outstanding mechanic...I had mine done at a local garage. Cost around £80 and they did a pretty good job.
Words of advice though, take a painters sheet( big sheet of plastic to catch paint drips) and use masking tape to cover as much of the car as you can) it will save a lot of time getting excess waxyol off. Also if they dont take your wheels off to do it you will have to clean them off as well (wd40 works really well).

Even if they take the wheels off when waxoyl was applied it will appear on the wheels after you've driven it around because the surplus (assuming they've applied enough 
) seems to get vapourised in the heat and the warm mist gets dragged through the wheels. It just needs some white spirit on a rag to remove it (don't spray WD40 through the wheels onto the brakes!).

Had the chimeara done at the weekend,total cost £149
, might sound expensive but was well worth it, as if I had did it I would not have done such a good job and it would have taken me all day
and not 3 hours as henley did it in
. Also they supplied digital photos of the wishbones to show you what sort of condition they are in
. Mine's booked in with Joolz for prep and hammerite. Costing a lot less than some of you are being quoted for Waxoyle. I'd give him a call if you're close enough.

Got mine done at a local Garage in Essex. It was my Cousin who runs a crash repair centre and MOT station. He runs Porkers himself

. Anyway, I know I got a good job.
The waxoil was £17.18 to do the job. So for everyone who is paying £150+, thats alot of labour at £50 per hour. Wish I could charge £50+ per hour for my work, i'd be very rich.

If the £150 was to strip off all the knackered paint and rust, treat the affected areas, re paint and then waxoyl then it's good value.
If all they do is stick it on a ramp and squirt black waxoyl over the top of what is already there, then it is a blatant rip-off.
I don't profess to know which is the more likely.
Although I would say that cleaning the chassis off, removing and rubbing down the flaky stuff, treating with rust cure, letting it dry, painting with Hammerite, letting that dry, then Waxoyling could not possibly be done in one day.
I shall be doing mine myself....

Sorry to bring this old chestnut back up again but I bought my Chim in May and Rob Ingleby checked it out and said the chassis was sarting to get small patches of rust and should definitely be cleaned and hammerited or waxoyled before the winter if I was going to use it on salty roads etc which I will.
I haven't got axel stands and my chim lives on a busy street in North London so getting under it isn't really an option at the minute. Has any had their chim cleaned, hammerited and waxoyled. I rang Tower View Racving and they said 120 for cleaning and waxoyling. I rang the TVR centre and they said they don't do it. Has anyone had all 3 processes done at a garage in or around London or Leicester?
