Do Chims go faster in winter?
Discussion
Hi David,
depends on how hard you drive.
I guess its like the difference in the quality of Petrol.. Different people notice greater or lesser effect.
My high boost Nissan 200 used to run noticably better in colder damper weather. Sadly in that weather the car had no grip so any benefit was lost.
cheers,
Nick

I think Turbo cars go better in the cold.
Jet engines are similar.
In the last few months of Concorde operations in 2003, they were flying from Heathrow with full loads. During hot weather performance drops, and usually a few less passengers means you could put a bit more fuel on board, so no real problems there.
With a really hot spell in 2003, and full loads, a couple of Concorde flights stopped in Greenland for a refuel. In cooler weather, the take off performance would have been better.
So jet engines do work better in the cold, so a turbo (turbine) would in theory work better aswell. I guess a N/A might work better aswell, but with less grip, salty roads etc at this time of year, I would not be inclined to try it in the Chimaera.

Can't say I've noticed to be honest. My old Leon Cupra R suffered noticably but again that was a turbo'd engine and the intercoolers were just not up to the task, especially as it was running slightly higher than normal boost.
As said though as the roads are greasy, right foot has to be kept in check a bit more this time of year so probably no!
