Can anyone tell me which is the best way to buy a new serpentine belt for my Chimaera.

It is a 1997 4.5L and I live in West Yorkshire just outside Leeds.

Is it an off the shelf item? Can I buy online? Is there a part No.?

Please help - I am happy to fit the belt myself.

I have one that I no longer need, mainly due to the fact that I've sold my Chim!
Will fit ok as it was for a 4.5 '97.

YHM (in a minute).

Two (equivalent) part numbers:
ERR 5267 (Land Rover part IIRC)
dayco 7pk 1850

I once tried to get one from a local Motor Factors to keep as a spare without success, but a main dealer should be able to provide one - I just haven't got round to it.

Thanks Gordon. I have checked out your site, but can only find a serpentine belt for a 5L. Are they the same for the 4.5L? From what I can see the part No's are the same

Cheers

PK7-1850 Serpentine the "7" is the number of ridges the 1850 is mm length, check your belt it may have some numbers still on it, the TVR belts don't fit range-rovers if yours is different let me know, I should be able to source it for you

or Power and AC or different pulley sizes.....

Worth checking everytime. There are around 50+ different fan belts that have been used on the Rover V8 over the years.
Typical one is a 7 rib 1850 but don't bank on it. Take the original along to make sure.

Posted this mail last year when I needed a new serpentine pulley belt. Which I bought from one of the members.

I took note of Snorky's comment about getting the routing right. I took digital photos before I removed the old belt, and ensured it went back exactley the same. I also checked that the grooved / flat sides mated correctley with the pulley wheel surfaces ie flat to flat, ribbed to ribbed. There didn't seem to be any other way it could go.

The car has been running fine since last year. The only anoying thing is that the belt squeals for about 10 minutes when cold (very anoying and embarrassing).

I have just got my copy of "the bible" and could not believe it today when I saw photos of the serpentine belt following a different route around the pulley wheels.

After double checking the photos, I removed the belt and re routed it - guess what not a squeal when I started her up.

All this time I've put up with this noise from cold - Cannot beleive that the car has had it's belt on wrong for so long.

Beware all, it is possible to to fit the belt wrong. ANOTHER LESSON LEARNED.
