Finished putting some 8 inch speakers in the rear of the chim and wanted advice on the best route for the cables from the speakers to the head unit, any suggestions.

Not sure if this will help, but:

Also, I found in my Griff, that the speaker cables for the rear speakers already went from the head unit to the door catch access panel, behind the passenger seat.

Then it was a simple job of extending the cables.

Just done the speakers in my Chimaera yesterday... my wiring was also complete up to the access hatch behind the passenger seat. Then just extented from the terminal block to the boot up over the wheel arch. Give david010167's web page a read - i found it helpful.

I will post my little speaker adventure on my website soon. But you'll probably be done by then!

Which 8” speakers did you fit?

I’ve got a set of TSE-2099 Pioneers that I want to put in the Griff.

I got some Kenwood HQ200's, they are off the range now but work well. The speakers fitted in with room to spare.

Thanks all for the advice will look tonight.

It was one hell of a job cutting cut the fiberglass of the back panel, but it sounds good afterwards.

I managed to borrow a rotary saw called a 'rotozip' - worked a treat with a fibreglass bit as it is small enough to manouveur around in the confined space. I started out with a jigsaw, but that just wasnt going to happen - too big and cumbersome. got there in the end though and, I agree, it is well worth it!

I fitted 6*9's and routed the cable down the transmission tunnel, then under the carpet behind each seat and then if you look behind the carpet just below the corners of the rear window there is a small gap you can feed the cable through to the boot area..

Cutting the FG was a bitch for me too, but it does sound great, no need for any amps if you have a good head unit, bass if fabulous.

As stated the cables to the stereo were in the access hatch behind the passenger seat, extended the cable and all okay.

I used a reciprocating saw to cut the fibre glass took about 50 seconds per hole , did not think to use the rotozip good idea.
