Morning all,
New member today.Happy New Year.
Now,

I have a problem with my 96'N Chim 4.0 .It has the factory fitted alarm/immobiliser on it and has been working fine. The ecu has been disconnected for about 4 weeks, cos it was sent off to be checked over.Got it back, ecu fine........Now, the both plip keys are not talking to the car.No response what so ever. The central locking works fine from the center console, so the all the solenoids and motors etc are working.I have changed the batterys in both plips and the car battery is fine.

Nearly forgot.I do not have the alarm key.Never came with the car.

Need help.Anybody out there!!!!

Cheers

Billbo

Hi Billbo,

Well im sure i should be on commission for this but the best person to contact is:

Carl Baker
www.tvruk.tv/

I take it you have a Meta alarm (round clicker!)?
I had a problem a few months back where the alarm no longer activated the doors but the immobiliser key worked in the dash..
Carl had it sorted in a couple of hours.

Carl is probably the best person in the country for TVR alarms and a very helpful chap.

cheers,

Nick

On a '96 Chim the alarm is not, I think, going to be a Meta, more likely a Cobra, but in any case, the advice is good - talk to an alarm expert as your remotes need "retraining". At least the car itself sounds to be in good fettle!

What alarm key is that? If your remotes have two buttons next to each other with an LED in the corner it is more likely to be a Foxguard alarm.

Are you are sure we are talking about the alarm unit itself and not the battery backed siren?

Mine's a 96 Chim and the alarm is a Meta... according to the letter in the handbook... plip is square and has 3 buttons. A TVR dealer sould also be able to sort you out.
