After being a member since April/May i have seen a lot of people posting up questions about MPG, so when i decided to go for a drive with the girlf before new year to her sisters i recorded miles done, amount of petrol and price of petrol. I came up with some suprising results too.

Miles done = 363
Price of petrol / litre = 93
Total cost of petrol = £64

6400 / 93 = 68.81 litres used.
68.81 / 4.56 = 15.08 gallons of petrol used.
363 / 15.08 = 24.07MPG

I worked this out to 24.07 MPG.

My car is a 5 litre 94. I never went near a motorway mostly single lane A roads and country lanes. I was never sitting at a constant speed and my right foot was fibre glassed to the floor at some parts doing 110mph down some of the lanes( private lanes that is ).

I could understand on a motorway at a constant 56mph but not down country lanes etc. I am very suprised at this and wondering if anyone else has got figures like this before?

30mpg is just about possible, all I can remember from both my Chim and the Cerb was that they were more economical than my M5....... which has now sold thank god! Time to find another TVR....

Y'know it makes sense. Then you can come back to c3c as well!!

BTW, 5 mpg on track, 22mpg on the road - enjoy your 5 litres!!
