Hi,

Recently I have been finding that when I accelerate strongly at about 3000 rpm the revs then increase way too fast for the indicated speed. Normal driving is fine but if you want to get away from the idiot tailing you then it can prove difficult :-)

I've described this to a few car enthusiasts and they all mention clutch wear and/or oil contamination.

Any thoughts??

Thanks,

Bevan.

Mine did the same, the clutch needs replacing. Its a straight forward job, just a pain in the rear crawling around on the garage floor for 3 days!

mine was exactly the same until clutch was replaced, keep your eye out on ebay as there is a buy on there that often sells complete clutch kits. Bought mine for 50 quid then got Leven to fit it - excellent job! Car is now totally transformed, think it was the original clutch as well - not bad for 68k miles.....

Hi Bevbo

Just booked my 96 4L into Thames Valley RaceTech near Reading for clutch replacement. Quoted £ 700 inc Vat & Lab.
Searched all my local indie's and most wanted nearer £ 800 inc vat & lab.
