Hi All,

I have a rather confusing problem, I've searched but cannot find anyone with the same problem.

My Chim lives under a waterproof cover but somehow it still seems to get damp from time to time and I've noticed that the drivers side mat under the clutch pedal sometimes has a small abount of water on it.

I'm guessing that when I drive it in the wet water accumulates and when I park it on a hill it runs out, hey presto a wet drivers footwell carpet.

Th resevoirs in the OSF wing are well silicon sealed and the door seals seem intact. I've fabsealed the roof and it seems dry. Anyone any experience of water coming though the bulkhead?

Any advice

Thanks

RL

Yes,i had this with my chim.It turned ou to be a leaking windscreen where it wasn't sealed properly.Get your head up under the footwell, looking at the bulkhead with carpets peeled back, and a willing assistant outside to pour a kettle or so of water down the windscreen.

should be loads of threads on water leaks into footwells etc, I've contributed to a few and read loads. The reservoir and the inspection cover in the front wing may look well sealed - as was the case with mine - but actual probing of the silicone revealed that it was not adhering to the reservoir and (possibly because this was not absolutely clean and free from brake fluid when previously sealed) Since removing all of the old silicone and cleaning carefully and resealing I have not had a drop come through. Also removed and carefully resealed the clutch res inspection cover, not forgetting to seal over the screws also. This and having replaced the "elephant ears" means that my car is now totally dry inside regardless of the weather.
Yes - it could be the screen but be absolutely sure about the easy-to-fix things first, I nearly reached that (erroneous) conclusion myself.

Try this search, enter - "water footwell" search for "all words", chimaera forum / last 6 months and you'll get about 10 references.

Are you sure its water and not clutch fluid?

My Chimaera is now the only totally dry car I've ever had, ...including some BMWs.
