....what can we expect to get for our Chimaeras that have covered 100k+ miles. Mines on 102k at the mo and currently unused

Needs a few bits and bobs doing to it to get it mint and I'm wondering whether to get the work done and then sell it or just sell as is for whatever price I can get.

Anyone any experience of selling high milage Chimaeras?

Cheers chaps, Dan

No experience of Chims at all but there's a garage near me trying to sell a 1996 N Starmist Blue 4.0 with 127,000 on the clock.

Last time I looked it was £7995 and he had added 'No reasonable offer refused' to his online advert..

I suspect a complete car with reasonable bodywork and in reasonable condition inside and a sound chassis has to be worth £5k even with a blown engine right?

But you have to think, once it gets to that stage, why not just keep it forever? It's a nice little hobby to have on the side, and you'll still enjoy driving it...

If you keep on top of maintaining the chassis and bodywork etc there is no reason i can see why your RV8 engine (with good maintenance) shouldn't go on for 150k plus.

Range Rovers etc regularly reach those kinds of figures.

I think the fact that cause a TVR's performance is so addictive we like to drive them pretty hard which is why the engines may not last quite so well.

When ours met a lamp post in August the insurance payout was £8400, the car was/is 1995 M, with serpentine engine, rear ARB, small brakes and 120k on the clock.

Not quite there yat but mines got over 90,000 and still going strong. In fact just passed the mot again with no assistance or advisories.

keep in mind though that when not driving fast a Tvr is a lot less weight to move around than a 3 tonne Range Rover,so the engine wouldnt have to work nearly as hard,it may balence iself out.

And The only thing left from the LR is probably the Sump plug (hands up if you have heard that before)

3 tonne LR doesnt have 210-280bhp either.

the P38 4.6 HSE Range Rovers about 215 bhp i think,the 4 litre is about 180ish.
