I've got a 95 Chimaera and am planning to tour Spain and West France this year. Any tips on car preparation - other than a good service, spare belt and fuses! If anyone has toured this area do you know any good TVR roads their? I am touring with 2 other cars - a Morgan and MG - so pride at stake here!!
Thanks.

Hi, I'm also planning a trip in the summer..

Other items on my list include tyre-weld (2 cans), a tyre pump, 2x 5 litre petrol cans and duct tape!

Note that I have 1 week to go before I actually own a Chim so I'm not baseing this on any kind of experience...

But from what I've heard the fuel gauges aren't the most accurate, also I'm planning to go to some fairly remote areas of Italy where finding a petrol station could be tricky (although hopefully I'll have GPS by then).

I am also thinking of travelling to Europe this year and this is my list of spare parts.

Fuses 40 amp & 100 amp (main fuse)
Fuel pump relay
Fan belt
Spare bulb set
Tyre weld
Duck tape
Tool kit (sockets, spanners and screwdrivers)
Cable ties
Jubilee clips
Need to check if I need a fan relay?
Plus
Warning triangle
First aid kit
torch

Hope that helps

Dave

All this in a Chim. Where you gonna put the Mobil 1 on the way home, and the roof, and the cases, and the missus (if applicable of course )

A legal requirement in Europe, along with a warning triangle and fire extinguisher.

Yeah - lived in Germany for 3 years. It's against the law to run out of petrol.
The rest are legally required as well.

Throttle cable. Very hard to source and a known weak point.

Thanks for your contributions everyone. I am a virgin driving in Europe so will make sure I follow advice given! Wife also going but had to bend her arm!! Not going till Aug but will report back my experience - hope it's a good 1! If I pass anyone also touring - give us a wave- we will be the one's arguing and trying to read a map! Am thinking of going to Spa (track day) spectator only!)in June for a weekend. Will be a good trial run.
Thanks again everyone.
