Started work on my Chim which I bought after its been stood for the last two years!

Jobs carried out today........

New plugs
New plug shrouds
New 10mm plug leads
New dizzi cap
New rotor Arm
Cleaned stepper motor

Fired her up first time seems to be running ok

Fans not coming on at temp, shorted otter switch connections and hey presto they did, have got new otter switch but will prob have to remove expansion tank to fit as I cannot get at it in situ! is this the norm?

Idles at approx 1000rpm but seems to be hunting slightly, any ideas?

Oil pressure guage problem! stays at around 40 for most of the time but then needle jumps around all over at times? could this be a bad connection?

Reversing light stuck on!could this be the gearbox switch prob?

What else engine wise should i check and clean other than the obviuos oil and filters?

Oh and i have no idea whatsover what i am doing to get her to start,i press the buttons on the keyfob in a random fashion sometimes we start other times nothing, could anyone please explain what I should be doing! (must be thick or something I guess!)

Many thanks in advance, theres gonna be a few more of these type posting by me!

Cheers

Otter position may vary with age of car. My terminals ('98) face the kerb and can be accessed directly although care needed.

Tighten the oil pressure connector.

Check the air filter, water levels, tyres and pressures.

Plan to change brake and clutch fluid. Check seals.

Cover the reversing light whilst testing it may sort itself or other advice comes - it may only be a switch stuck.

To start from locked you have around 20secs on a Meta alarm.

Alternatives, put immobiliser in and then key or key in, push the blipper and crank.

Suggest you put some miles on if the car appears OK to blow off the cobwebs now that you have been running her.

Build a snagging list and seek advice, your local dealer or indie.

Enjoy.

If its been stood for 2 years I'd drain the fuel and replace it with some new petrol, as well as the engine oil. Might be worth checking the coolant to make sure theres no rust in there.

Hunting is likely the stepper motor, common fault.

I'd also pay very close attention to the tyres, check the sidewalls for cracks (both sides of each tyre)
