Hi, can anyone tell me what the discs are on my 4.0 96 Chim, are they a standard disc? Corin seems to think they are Ford Cosworth discs but can't be sure. The parts bod at my local shop says they could be solid or vented.
Thanks
Andy.

Rear discs I commented on, they should be solid Sierra Cosworth items.
The vented fronts are either 240mm XR3I or the slightly larger RS Turbo items.

This is all from memory so I'm ready to be corrected!

I've recently done mine, they are standard Ford Sierra (xr4i I think) solid disks. Got mine from www.brakes4u.co.uk and used the greenstuff pads. Disks were only 20 quid each. Part no for he disks is EBC D280 for the standard ones.

Just looking around t'inta-net.

According to the brake engineering website www.brake-eng.co.uk the solid rear discs are common to several fords, not just the Sierra, but also the Focus 98on, Fusion 02on, Puma 96on and Scorpio 93on.

Interesting

Hugepiece - thanks for the info. What a great website and a huge saving over standard! Just found out I have to do mine in the near future. Out of interest, why did you go for Greenstuff pads and not the ones that the disk supplier seem to be selling?
Bomber - Didn't you fit greenstuff pads in the old girl when you had her?

Basically a few different people told me that there could be several different pads on the rear so I just took them off at went to a local motor factor to make sure I got the correct ones. I think they were around 40quid so not too bad.

I also stuck goodrich lines on all round at the same time. Believe it or not the cheapest place I could find was actual Heine Gericke (maybe spelt wrong), they are primarily a bike clothing/accessory place but I managed to get them to order me the car items direct from Goodrich, around 40quid if IIRC. Seem to make the car feel better when the brakes are hot - but that could just be my imagination of course! My old rubber ones were perished so had to replace then anyway.
