On the Drivers side my wing mirror can be turned in, its a bit stiff and doesn't touch the door. But the passenger side moves very easy but touches the door( its left a mark there) is this common or is my passenger mirror broken in some way?

They should both be able to move in should you park in a tight spot and want to avoid them getting hit. I would imagine your passenger side needs tightening.

I will have a read of the bible tonight but in the meantime.... is this accessed through the speaker hole in the door?

There is a grub screw under the black plastic bit at the case which stops the mount from rotating. It sounds like that has come loose - TADTS. It is a complete b*stard to get at though. Its pretty common to "bodge" by inserting a self tapper.

The real fix is to upgrade to Corrado mirrors though!

....and that would result in the mirrors not moving anymore?

On the drivers side, my mirror is quite stiff - but I don't fold them anymore because the last time I tried, the action neatly cut through the very fine wires to the door release button so I couldn't get in - parked close to a dry stone wall!

Both my mirrors are non moving. Its an early L reg 400 Chimaera, not sure if the model or year makes a difference to the build in this respect? Will see what the bible says tonight.

It would result in the base not turning, as it's not supposed to (except for initial alignment at the factory). The top part of the mirror would still turn, as is IS supposed to.

What you have is a spigot coming through the door, with a groove in it. The turret thingy, the bit that snaps sometimes, sits on top of that, with the grub screw locating into the groove, and this is supposed to be clamped firm. The mirror itself is bolted to the top of this turret, and mirror adjustment is by rotating the mirror against the turret, not by rotating the turret against the spigot.

There's more here, including a recommendation by Joospeed (now Trackcar?) to ... drill a hole and fit a self tapper.

Never seen a Chimaera with a wing mirror.
