Quite a straight forward one this...just want to make sure there are no other little tricks to look for.

I put a new alternator on a couple of weeks ago and everything was fine...start the car and the Alternator light would go out after about 30 - 40 seconds. It has been like that since i put it on. This morning on my way to work the light didnt go out at all.

Going to take the alternator off again tonight and make sure the brushes are clean...check connections and clean them up again, the usual stuff...

Has anyone got any ideas what else i could look at...battery is only about 4 months old.

Check the 100A fuse under the car. Search for previous posts, mine was breaking up, caused light to stay on.
10p to replace.

Thought the 100 Amp fuse sat between the starter and the battery?

Anyway i have checked the wiring before under the car and have not found this 100 amp fuse anywhere...??? Aparently some cars did not have them???

If it's not the 100A fuse, then it could well be that one of the brushes in the alternator is sticking. This is what happened to my chim a few years ago and a replacement alternator cured it.

it wont be your brushes sticking, one of the diodes in the rectifier pack as probably blown, possibly easier to just get another alt, rather than fix your one, especially if its old, just get your one rebuit, ore ex unit.thats a common problem in an alternator by the way.hope this helps.

Fanbelt is good and the alternator is new...took it apart last night, cleaned the brushes and also cleaned the brass bushes the brushes touch to make the circuit...working fine now.

Can only put it down to some kind of sound wave coming from Mr36x that damaged the alternator...

Sounds like the fusible Link. It is mounted in a black box on the chassis rail!!
