My chim needs a new cam and clutch at about £2k.Will i regret selling (or indeed have any takers)rather than getting the work done .I've had the car for 4 yrs and its been great ,I had planned selling next year but this cost would make me keep it .So do I sell as it stands or do the work and keep it. Don't go but I would not be getting another TVR due to present lack of cash, well, enough to make a jump from 97 to fair bit newer

Chim prices appear to be in a major freefall at the moment anyway so trying to sell with people knowing theres 2k's worth of work needing doing may well be a bit of a job and personally I think you may have to drop more than 2k from your normal asking price to shift it.

I would say advertise it on here, its free, and see if you get any takers/offers. If not then keep it. I sold my wedge via this site and am looking for a chim at the moment.

Cam and clutch would only be £2k if you paid someone to do it. DIY thats less than £1k for parts, so if the rest of the car is OK someone could get a bargain for a £2k discount if they were prepared to do the work themselves.

Prices in free fall? Discussed at length here; as someone who has owned a Chim from new for 10 years, and kept an eye on prices over that period, I think not, and it is starting to bug me that people are trying to talk the prices down on here.

I agree with your sentiments on the previous quote I was only really agreeing on the fact some people would either not touch it or want a larger than the job costs discount

A bit far for you to travel but I spoke to a lad from Sheffield at Cars in the Park last year and he said RT Racing had fitted his chim with a new clutch for £750.
Is there no TVR Indies near you?

My local dealer will do the clutch for £750 ish so no probs there. What I had planned to do was get cam done do some miles then drop oil at same time of getting clutch done.as for what car that is the $64000 question
