Hello,

I've been a total and utter dumbo.

Where do I start???

Before Christmas, had a tiny knock on the o/s/f wing on her (some dumb arse customer of mine reversed into me while sitting stationary in a car park). Damage isn't noticable, but I'm claiming through his insurance to get in fixed properly all the same - mainly because he tried to blame it on me which p-ed me right off!
Anyway, since the weather has been rubbish and I was getting worried about putting too many miles on her, she's been parked up for a few weeks while I've used my old car.

Now I've read on here so many times about people getting flat batteries and stuff and am the proud owner of an Optimate for my bike (so no excuses) so charged her up 1 1 and 1/2 weeks ago cos she wouldn't start, but cos I was unwell, I wasn't able to drive.

Anyway, got a call from an insurance assessor for the third party who wants to see it tomorrow. Being sensible and thinking that the battery may be low again, I thought I'd best get it sorted... This was yesterday. Then discovered I'd lost my key and remote somewhere in my house probably. Bit of a pain cos I don't have a spare remote plipper thing. Did a 100 mile round trip to pick it up from her previous carer. Battery on this plipper is almost flat, but just about got enough juice to make it light up. Went to the car to unlock her and nothing... The little LED that normally flashes on the dash isn't flashing so i'm guessing that her battery must be totally dead. Now I'm stuck with a dodgy remote and a locked Chim!

I feel so stupid asking for someone to help me get in. It was a sticky in here for so long and I kept thinking to myself 'I'll never let my battery go flat'. What a muppet I am!

If someone could PM me the secret of getting in tonight, that'd be fab... If not it's a humble call to Waldonway tomorrow morning and a p-ed off assessor (cos I don't have his number to re-schedule the appointment!)

Also, the remote is a little, plastic, grey rectangle with 1 small, slitty button, an LED and some rubbed off blue text on it. Any idea what make this is and where replacements can be found? If not, does anyone recommend a new alarm system? I normally love doing loads of research into this sort of thing, but I'm trying to buy a house at the moment and will struggle for time and usually the advice on here is spot on...

All help will be hugely greatful!

Cheers,

Loretta x

The alarm sounds like a Meta, which was standard fitment.

Big al....can you mail me the info too ? I had the same problem the other day and got in but my method wasnt what I would call ideal...just want to see if there is another way. I was shown my current method by the previous owner who told me it was the only way if there was a problem.

With one month and six posts under your belt, I would think (and bloody well hope) that the response would be similar to this one: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=234803
