Chim box tight
Discussion
I have a Chim 400 with what I think is a Sierra Cozzy box, is it normal to have a tight shift. I have to snatch it out of gear sometimes. I have a Sierra 2wd Cozzy but this box is notchy to change gear when really hot but is generally a free positive change.
I end up fighting the TVR shift....it is a TVR I guess! It seems to stick in gear, I wondered if the cluch was dragging. Anyone got any ideas please.
PS.

Hi there. I've had both a 96 and 98 car, both with the Borg Warner T5 box, which i think all 95 on cars have. On both of these after a good blat, or a full day drive the changes would become a bit sticky, so it's possibly an effect of metal expanding when hot. The gears have never actually stuck, just have an initial resistance. It's never caused any problems.
Bear in mind i'm no mechanic, so seek more advice, but i think you're O.K.
Rob.

The gearshift is heavy on my Chim. Never notchy or tight. With the Borg Warner box reverse requires putting into fifth first and some fiddling - but that's it.
They do vary - a great deal. My friend's Cerbera has a very light feel in comparison and the Tuscan I test drove had "fingertip" action.
I'd look into this further. I'm not a mechanic, sorry, but I've driven a good few Tivs, now, and have an idea of what's "normal"...despite the fact it does vary.
