These are the standard fit 5 litre tyre? I can't say I've noticed any difference in grip.

mine's the 5ltr and when i bought it, it had 225/50/16's on (worn) so i put new s03's the same size back on (2000 miles ago) then i read the bloody thing can run on the wider tyre so i'm thinking of banging the 245/45/16's on to see if it helps getting the power down a bit better but if anyones gone from the 225 to the 245 and not noticed a reall diference i'll not bother.

To be honest, all my 5 ltr have been 245. I recently had a 450, which I think had 225, and I can't remember the grip being substantially different. (But then the grunt would've been less too)

I've not seen you knocking about Nottingham.

I did this swap on my first griff. It was still on it's original expedia's at 8k when i bought it.If i'm honest,i couldn't say i noticed much difference, but then i never trcked the car,and dont drive like a loon on the road either! In theory the larger contact area should provide more grip, but why change unless your having a problem? One advantage of the narrower tyre is that it's less able to aquaplane apparently

thanks for the replies, i think i'll just do it and see wot happens, the s03 is a very hard tyre and takes ages to warm up so if nothing else i can match the rears with my toyo fronts and when summer gets hear i'll find out if the extra width stops the rears spinning in 2nd on a hot day, by the way "smokin" i'm mainly in me van through the week then come weekends i take the car as far away from notts bloody speed cameras as possible mate.

Ive got SO3s and 245 rears, in the dry they are ok but any slight bit of moisture they slip all over the shop. I put that down to the tyres to be honest.
