Just got back from a 300 mile riound trip in the Chim to the Historic Autosport Show at Stoneleigh. Chim ran fine, with no problem apart from the colour going from Blue to White with all the salt!
Anyway, got talking to the Hagerty boys and turns out that they can do some pretty good deals on insurance. Dont turn this thread into another "which Insurance is best", just thought we should be aware of another alternative, when next due. Their number is 01327 856 002, ask for Darren - he's a TVR man and used to have a Chimaera.
ps didnt spot any other TVR's.........

Do you know who the underwriters are by any chance? , just a matter of interest.

All are underwritten by Allianz Cornhill, General Insurer of the year 2004 & 2005.

Just tried Hagerty and spoke with Darren. Bloody Hell! They gave an incredibly good quote, which included an agreed value. Thanks for the great tip..... literally saved me hundreds.

Darren sorted my insurance out for two cars and saved me hundreds of pounds. He was very knowledgable and a pleasure to deal with. Well recommended!

Thanks for the tip!
As a 25-year-old TVR first timer insurance has been pretty steep to say the least. Darren quoted a new premium today that'll save me over £1k. Cancelling my old policy tomorrow!

Same deal for me, very impressed with Hagerty, cut my premium from £930 last year to £426 this year.

Not bad considering i am 26, living in SE London and with a couple of points on the license.

www.hagertyclassiccarinsurance.co.uk/

I was previously insured with Mannings also underwritten by Alianz & Cornhill and saved a few quid on the premium and dropped the excess from £250 to £100. The Mannings cover includes track days but that's not for me so didn't matter. However I did learn that Hagerty's premiums go up more than Mannings with increased mileage. For 3000 mls they were both in the low £300s but for 5000 mls mannings went up £80 but Hagerty went up £200!

They will not insure you if your car is not garaged. One to bear in mind before ringing them for a quote.

I am yet another delighted PH'er who has had a quote that reduces my existing premium by nearly 50% and with much better terms. Hagerty have been excellent, prompt and helpful - first-class. Thank you very much !

Anybody been quoted for about 8K mileage. I use mine daily'ish' in the summer for social, domestic and driving to place or work. Looks like this might not qualify according to their website.

Has anyone been unfortunate enough to need to claim from them?

That is the important bit IMHO...

I asked them for pretty much the same thing and was told no. They said they really only deal with people who use the Chimaera as a second car doing no more than about 5k miles.

For what it's worth A-Plan gave me the best price, by an absolute mile. £670 for a 30 year old with 7 years NCB, 8k miles but for social use only, no commuting.
