Delay Module and non starting.
Discussion
Hi All.
So having decided that I could take the car for a spin this morning I took the cover off, jumped in and listened to the sluggish waa waa w' of a flat battery
(again!!)
Anyway, I pulled the battery forward to clip some jumpleads onto it (early chim, battery above relay plate) and then hooked it up to the landrover battery. On turning the key, all was dead, and I noticed that the clock had stopped at the time I pulled the battery forward. On close inspection I found that I'd clipped the delay module that sits above the ignition relay on the board, with the battery and knackered it (snapped the PCB inside it).
Anyway, everything else looked fine, but the ignition is completely dead.. so a couple of questions.
1. whats the delay module for? wipers, alarm, interior light? (therefore are there another ones somewhere as is the only on on the relay board)
2. does the ignition circuit run through the delay module for any reason as I can't explain why knackering the delay module kills of the ignition.. (therefore I must have bust something else)
All help gratefully received..
Cheers
Matt

happy christmas
PPS... the S never gave me these problems

The delay module is probably for the wipers( relay position 9 I think, bottom row, third from left), although with the maze of wiring down there, you have probably knocked another relay, I'd check the fuel pump and ecu relays ( loose in the loom next to the ECU), the ECU connection itself.
Check all the relays, fuses in the board are located
relay 5 is for all ignition feeds so check that.
relay 6 for courtesy light delay.

I refute that allegation
The contention of the honourable gentleman from Derbyshire is, in fact, accurate. The allegation was unintended and due purely to my misuse of the colloquial term "squiz".
I hereby apologise unreservedly for any aggravation, mental anguish, humiliation or embarrassment caused to the honourable gentleman from Derbyshire by my statement.

Well I've got the new delay module now, hopefuly I can get the car running again tomorrow (battery willing), plus I picked up a spare ignition relay at the same time and 280 fuses (yep I'm prepared
) I'll bet it will piss down for the remainder of the holiday so I can't really drive it once going again.
Matt.
