Take a look at these, some cars have "elephant ears" fitted some don't.

1st pic shows the down rubber seal overhanging into the door jam (yours seems to have had this overhang removed)

2nd pic shows the side flap lifted

3rd pic show an “elephant ear” fitted.

Does that make any sense?

Ed to change piccies around.

wow thats a huge piece of rubber not to have
looks like ordering 2 of them
also that extra length stuff thats missing on mine
looks like that beading runs all the way over to the other side as well so is in one piece
if i take that off and replace what would you seal it back up (silcone or something else)
also while i have been looking at this
looked care fully at the back of the roof and on the passenger is futher over than the side that is leaking buy about 1 inch how do you reset this so that it is equal on both sides?

OK.
The "hoop" is in one piece. IIRC it's already attched to the gripper that it's attached too.

Sorry don't understand you when you say

"also while i have been looking at this

Do you mean that the rear part of the hood is on the squew to the roof insert?

A piccy would help!

Think I understand, can't say I've seen that type of fitment problem before never even heard of anyone with similar. Is the rear of the hood original or has it been refurbed or replaced?
I would say that your car is pre "P" reg but that hood looks newish.

Can't say I know the answer, but there are others on here that will. Have you done any searches in either the Griff or Chim forums? you may find an answer.

I thought exactly the same, I suspect that the folding section of the hood isn't original and someones has failed to fit the elephant ears which are bonded in behind the fabric at the base of the roof hoop. In addition the seal on the front edge of the hoop has possibly been replaced and left a couple of inches too short. There looks to be a good inch or so of absent door seal at the base of the window glass which must produce a lot of wind noise at least, in addition to a big leak.
