body off questions
Discussion
Well i know there is a topic on someone taking the body off, but have just recruited a couple of my car mad mates to do this and wondering if this is possible
do the following below(this is copyed from that topic)leaving engine in.
but for times scales is this to much
body off following below (1 weekend)
repair, derust, por15, that marine poxy stuff, then hammerite, cover in wayoyl (2-3 weekends)(not going to replace mad amounts of stuff just referb the chassis)
body back on (1 weekend)
so taking max of 5 weeks only pretty much only on weekends but would have 2-3 people working on it though.
is this not being realistic or timescales wrong?
thanks again for all the help
"Yes, the engine can stay in, just means you need to lift it higher, but you do need to remove the exhaust manifolds.
"this is from memory on my car but try this order
Fuel tank out,
engine loom off
exhaust manifolds off
steering column UJ disconnected
radiator off
seats out
carpets out
ARB mounts off (although you can just about squeeze the body pass with them
still on
two bolts front most lower part of chassis
seatbelt mounts off
floorpan bolts (8 each side i think, not forgetting the little tags on the
end of the out rigger in the wheel arch)
earth strap with 8mm mushroom head behind the fueltank
four bolts behind the fuel tank, two at the top of the chassis 2 virtually
on onthe boot floor
one BBQ and several crates of beer
several strong friends
then you can cry at the amount of rot!"

You can't expect people to re-invent the wheel.
