Can I adjust the Headlights to Point Down?
Discussion
Hmmmm, this one's not a quick job.
Are you likely to change your suspension in the near future? - if so do this first....
Right - pick a dry day (yeah right
)
Buy some Sikaflex mastic from your local Partco automotive supplies (a websearch should find them)
Buy some Highland Park malt whisky from local off-license
Now in daylight take off the access hatches behind the lights (easiest to take each wheel off first, as the 3 philips screws where probably tightened by a 100 pound goralla on PCP, although you may be able to get away with a good quality stubby screwdriver)
You may need to carefully cut the mastic to get them loose after you have removed the screws.
Have a good look in & make sure you can work out how to adjust the beam - should be fairly simple now you have got this far....
Now put your wheels back on & wait for the night.
Go to your favourite straight stretch of empty road & adjust lights to satisfaction.
Take car home, take of wheels, clean the area & apply Sikaflex mastic & screws to panels & reattach.
Sit in front of fire & pour a nice glass of said Highland Park malt whisky, and think "job well done!
"
(If things din't go quite to plan for whatever reason, sip whisky until problem seems irrelevant...)
Alternatively you could get a garage to do it, as there are tools that can calibrate the beams, to save all the hassle of waiting for night etc...

Welll..... the beam setting screws should be on the front. That means removing the cowling, undoing the mastic, resetting the alignment and then putting the whole lot back. Details are in the second edition and it is a bastard of a job especially with the early cars where the cowling is not bolted but glued!
Craig's car is a bit special in that it is a little bit different in build as it is a very late car.

ta chaps,
i dont like the whole access panel thing,
I will try and do the contortionist thing i think,
i managed to replace both bulbs about 6 weeks ago, so, i assume adjusting the beam height should be a lil easier (are they thumb screws or real screws for the beam?)
Steve, I have the bible here, whens the new one out ?
Ta for the wonderful help craig, mines a 98 R Post Delock Pre Facelift
a mk2 i suppose :P
Will see what I can do, and how many scratches I can get
thnx

I think from what Steve is saying, most cars will need the fibreglass fairing around the glass removing, in order to adjust the beam.
So ignore pretty much all I said, except for the bit about the Highland Park
New Bible is out now - some people seem to have received it, some haven't...

Had the boot leaded up with xmas prezzies, and it only served to make worse, my ongoing thoughts re: headlights.
they seem to point too far skyward on full beam, If I brake a lil, they point right, but soon as the suspension resets, it goes Heavenward again.
Any Pearls of Wisdom?

Bigger wheels on the back? Space savers on the front ( space savers come with the added bonus of reducing oversteer).
I'll get my coat ...

Santa mugged me just before Christmas so even I don't have a copy. Get a delivery this week and then I can settle all my debts to society etc...
Mine arrived B4 Xmas! (thanks Carol TVRCC) Also got lots of Leven stuff and other books - haven't got round to reading the New Testament yet. BTW Steve, it could do with a bigger/stronger spiral and/or hard covers as there's soooo much in there it's a bit 'floppy' (oo-er missus!).
