Hey all
VERY worried driving on M1 at some speed this afternoon when my passenger door sprang open of its own accord. There was a passenger in the seat who thankfully remained there. No one touched the door controls and the passenger wasnt leaning on the door. Any ideas as the thought of that happening with just me in the car is NOT a good one!!! Thanks in advance

Have a look behind the carpet panel immediately behind the passenger door - it should be affixed with velcro, and also the rubber trim at the back of the door opening - ie you need to pull some of the rubber fromn the door opening to open this hatch.

In there you should see all of the cables that deal with the door catches & locks - maybe one is just a bit too tight?

Also have a look at the catch, which is set into the body - test it by pushing a screwdriver into it, as if it was the door striker - is this fully closing?
Does the door always shut right, or does it sometimes need another slam?

Mine has done that twice since I bought it last April. Once was on a large round-about with my wife sitting in the passenger seat. I was moving at a good speed so the door swung all the way open.

I don't remember exactly where it happened the second time, but I had a passenger both times. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but I'm glad they were there so they could shut the door. :

Both were sure they did not do anything to make the door open. It has never happened with just me in the car.

This happened to me on afew occasions when I first got the vehicle only on the drivers side. I adjusted the tension on the cable to the door mechanism behind the velcro patch of the doorlock. I also gave the workings a good lube to be sure. Been fine ever since :-)
