I have a leak coming in through the windscreen seals and have been told that it requires to be rebonded. However my windscreen is delaminating and I am thinking about a replacement, can anyone suggest a company that will do this and how much will it cost?

I you can find a stone chip on your windscreen then your insurance will probably do it for £50 excess through autoglass etc. Make sure that they have the correct replacement before they start.

Also, there have been reports of damage being caused to the fibreglass windscreen surround during replacement. Best take it to the depot and insist that their top man does it, and check that the roof panel still fits correctly when they're done.

I assume you keep your car outside. In that case you may want to consider getting a hood cover for it. Leven do one:

If you search this forum for windscreen there is a lot of info there.

Hello,

I had a similar problem recently with a stone chip and I had to get it sorted. Luckily it turned out it could be fixed without replacing the whole windscreen. The advice I got there (Autoglass depot) chimed with much on this forum in fact. An insurance company will just tell you to take it to their usual fitters. Insist on going somewhere where they have experience of working on TVRs. In fact most fitters will refuse to do it as this job is very difficult and may well suggest the best places to try.

Agree with all that's been said.

Just to reinforce need to seek out Dealer/Independant TVR people for windscreen replacement.

I'm happy to endorse Peninsula who have an installer for all models of TVR - plus repair of stone chips.

I had mine replaced as chips where in drivers line/zone and screen had delaminated so paid the £50 excess, Penisula did the rest.

I had a new screen "fitted" by RAC Windscreens as Sunninghill Insurance only allow this shower to do it.

I am now getting quotes from car trimmers to repair the damage these animals did to all the trim around the screen

RAC are paying.

NEVER get the screen replaced by anyone except a good TVR Independent.

Just to give a balanced view RAC autowindscreens did mine in DEC and its an excellent job!
However I did ask for and got the guy who does all the work for the local dealer Hexham Horseless Carriage, so my advice is check they have TVR experience.

To add to this, RAC Autowindscreens in chesterfield did mine a couple of years back, and did a spot on job. They took 3 days over it, and the rubbber trim fit was way better afterwards than before.

I went into the RAC windscreens place in Mitcham the other day to get them to fix a chip. They said that if the screen needed replacing they would get one of the guys from another branch in who does all the TVR stuff for them.

Is there a limit to how many times you can have a windscreen replaced for the £50 XS?

This was the High Wycombe bunch - and they assured me they had done TVR before and were quite capable of doing the job.

Not the case.

Hi

Ian at sportmotive in Stoke on Trent is the man who can and he is not expense.

He is doing a lot of work on my Chimaera, which includes a windscreen replacement in the next couple of weeks.

Hope this helps
