So much tapping!

Took the Chimaera out for a good run down the M62 today and the engine sounded terrible, I think the hydraulic lifters aren't getting enough oil.

When it was last in for a service they mentioned some sort of oil treatment you can get that helps sort this out? Does anyone know what this miricle fluid is? and where I can get hold of some?

Thanks
Rich

Wynns I believe, but it may be a better idea allaround to get the engine checked out, and the problem corrected at source.

Found this stuff...

Might give it a go, if it doesn't do much, it's only a few quid down the drain and I'll get them lifters sorted at the next service. If it does work it's only cost me a few quid, woohoo!

Probably get them looked at anyway...

Cheers

I've tried this kind of stuff but if you need a new cam / tappets, it won't help in the slightest.

Good luck, don't fancy your chances though! Unlikely to help with exhaust gaskets either

If the noise sounds like the exhaust gasket 'ticking' under load but you have had these checked, it may be a leaky head gasket. Happened to mine, David Batty At 'The Garage' near Guildford sorted it for me.
