My nearside indicators flash at double speed when I use them, even though all indicator bulbs are working OK. They seem to work fine when locking/unlocking the car and the offside indicators work fine.... Any Ideas please????

It's probably a failure of a capacitor or resister in the indicator/flasher relay if everything else is ok. It's fairly cheap to replace a unit to confirm it's ok. The flashing whilst alarm setting is handled by the alarm rather than the relay.

The flasher is an electronic unit and its speed is irrespective of the load. so I reckon it has died. Remove the dash and it is a big black GM relay. Pictures and the circuit diagram in bible 2.

Cannot see why the nearside flashers should work any different to the offside if it is the flasher unit at fault as it is the same unit. Are you saying the offside works fine?

As has been previously commented - usually a relay etc. However, another common fault is that the bulb has gone or is in the process of going.... This is why those expensive "diagnostic" computers you get on Audi's and BMW's are a gimmic.... flashers tick normally - no problem. Flashers tick at double rate - bulb going or gone.... you dont really need a computer to tell you that one!

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks for all your replies. All the bulbs appear to be fine and it is only the left hand side that flashes double speed. I'll do some digging and simple checks... and I will now be ordering the New Testament from Steve!

Don't know if the flasher thingy is the same as the V8S, but mine does that when the rear light cluster has got damp and is earthing out (always the near side on mine for some reason ), gets faster when braking and indicating, but not when just indicating, if you see what I mean. A quick clean up of the connector sorts it out until the next time . Just a thought.

Problems relating to braking and indicators will be down to a bad earth connection, either on the lights or back to the chassis.

Had the same problem, changed the bulb and all ok.
