Hi every one just got a Chimaera and I love driving it. When I went to check the water level I found that the prevous owner had cross threaded the cap. Do any of you know the best place to purchase a new one and any advice on topping up the water level. I have got the serpentine engine

Hi Bernie, if you're referring to the light blue pressure cap (on the expansion tank, behind the radiator), it's from a VW Golf Mark II- so there are many outlets that sell them.

Urge you to buy a copy of Steve Heath's TVR Griffith & Chimaera 2nd Edition

Happy motoring.

Edited to say:

Follow the instruction in the handbook for bleeding the cooling system and remember to turn the dash heater to 'hot' before doing so.

It is. I bought one and it's OK. About £12 as I recall from the local VW dealer.

Does anyone else have trouble getting the blue cap off? I lubricated the threads with vaseline, but I still end up having to use a set of Stilsons to get the damn thing off. And no, it isn't cross-threaded - it just seems to bind to the Aluminium.

I've read that they can be tricky to get off.... but I've never needed stilsons... I only tighten mine very lightly when topping up etc.
