The wifes 4.0 Chim runs like a pig when cold, so much so that I am almost embarressed to drive it. (She cant because I wont insure her car for her )
I have change the HT leads, replaced a cracked distributer cap which has improved things but still not as perfect as I would like.
Any one come across this before?
If so what can i do.
In case you have not realised I am new to TVR's

FWIW my '99 450 is very rough when cold on a cold day. If you idle for about 30-60secs you should hear the revs drop very slightly then things should be much better. Apparently TADTS.

My Griff 500 runs beautifully when it's cold and all I've had done is a replacement set of Magnecor leads. In fact if I'm being honest it runs best at this time of year and goes like a rocket with all the nice cold air going into the engine! Sounds like something's not quite right to me although I doubt it's anything worth losing sleep over.

Cheers - Chris

Mine does this, although it can take upto 2 minutes on a cold day before it settles down.

sounds like the air bypass stepper motor to me, mine has died a couple of times, depends where it is when it dies.

Unscrew it, push in the plunger, turn on the ignition and see if it pushes the plunger back out, if it doesnt its dead.

Hope this is right for yours.

Thanks I will give it a go at the weekend.
Having played with her toy yesterday the engine ticks over fine when started from cold but when I press the Accel pedal the revs drop, but dont die completely, lift of and they pick up again then over rev and away we go.
