Hi everyone...anyone...

I just bought my 1st Chim - 4Litre and lovin' it - and also bought the accumate re-charger & cigarette lighter plug-in for the 2006 winter ahead. To make sure my new charger worked I thought I would try it out by pluggin' it into the Chim's battery. The Power LED on the accumate came on but not any of the other LED's (ie depleted battery or full battery LED). I know the battery in the Chim is OK - I was really testing the charger to make sure it worked. Anyone know if its normal for no other LED's to come on. The manual says that they should.
I'm also assuming Chimaera's are Negatively Earthed.

I know from the posts on here that quite a few people use this recharger/plug-in combination so any advise would be welcome.

Hi Mate

My Acccumate shows the power light and the charging light when I plug it into the cigarette lighter, if I then leave it on it will eventually turn to a green fully charged light. But if I even open a door with then central locking it turns to a charging (amber) light straight away.

Is your lighter a permenate live? this might explain it not lighting up

enjoy the Chim.

I tried the lighter socket for charging and had no joy on my 96 Chim, so I decided to fit the permanent battery lead and the charger has worked a treat ever since

As has been mentioned does your lighter work without the ignition on?

If i understand your query correctly, you'll only get one light showing the current battery state, if they all light up you wouldn't know what state of charge the battery is in. If its fully charged then the one light showing a full battery will come on. Sounds fine to me.

You should get a red light to say the charger is on and either an orange or green light to show the condition of the battery, I presume you've done the obvious thing and pressed the fag lighter in and see if it gets hot.

I assume that the Accumate connection and lighter socket plug are firmly home?

Hi and WOW!

You guys are so cool - thanks everyone for replying - I'm blown away by how much advice I got!

Anyway, I rang Accumate and they say my charger is "duff" and to send it back - so I have.

Again - what a fantastic response from you all - Thankyou very much.
