Aaaargghh, my boot won't open. Hasn't been a problem before until today, the very day I put all my tools in it to take to fix another car! Sods law I guess. Now all my tools are locked in the boot along with all my overnight stuff.

The solenoid clicks when the button is pressed, however it is a kind of muted click. I suspect the latch is just stuck and needs a dab of grease. Have tried pushing/pulling up and down on the boot, hitting it, swearing etc. to no avail. Could somebody help? I know that there is a 'secret' way but I don't have my bible yet. Please could somebody email me a couple of pointers? My email address is on my profile.

Thank god it opened while I was on the hard shoulder of the M42 putting the roof back on in the monsoon earlier!

Oh p.s. don't use the 'email' button, that goes to my work address. Please use the hotmail one!

The only reason I can imagine taht you might want your boot open at this time of night is cos that's where you keep your either your porn stash or your condoms.

I'll PM you tomorrow after your night of enforced celibacy

AL - Your e-mail address is not revealed to other PH'ers via your profile. All we see is a link marked 'e-mail me'

You'll have toeither ammend your profile address to your hotmail one, or PM me the address to which I should send the instructions.

Bugger, can't get in. Wouldn't make much of a car thief. Looks like a call to the fourth emergency service might have to be made tomorrow. Please msg me with some ideas!

Sorry Al I can't help any further. The method I PM'd to you is the one from the bible.
Took me less than 5 mins last time I was locked out.

Thanks anyway, I have a feeling that an integral part of the opening mechanism has broken hence the secret method isn't working. Have called out the rescue people who will no doubt be having a good laugh in a minute.

Anyone else know if there is more than one secret way of getting in? If so please email me!

OK, I'm in!!

Thanks a lot guys, that worked. Think my car is the right age for it.

Root cause seems to be 1) The piece of electrical wire (!) that TVR used had slipped from the latch and 2) My attempts to open it yesterday burnt out the solenoid.

Just have to find a new part today so I can lock the boot again. Will try the Ford dealer as I don't want to have to wait 48 hours for Maplins.

Big Al.
