Chimaera going to Le mans
Discussion
Before you say it I am well aware of the Le mans Thread under general events.
Nevertheless as a Newbie I would like to know how many Chimaera’s will be heading south to Le Mans June this year.
This will be my first trip in a chimaera 400(BIG V8 R) and I cant wait!

Was going to go in the TVR, but since 5 mates want to come as well I'm taking the old Landie instead which we can all fit in (which also happens to have a fridge and cooker in the back).
As for reliability, I will happily stop and tow home any Chimaeras I find by the side of the road! Unless of course I'm broken down on the side of the road as well, which is highly likely.

Nah you'll be fine - have done 30,000 in the last two years in mine and never been low-loaded for anything that was unavoidable (i.e. new radiator that was cracked before it was even put on grrrr).
Things to take with you:
Spare fuses - as many as you can, Especially including the 100Amp one
Tyre Weld
Foot pump
tool kit - large spanner for rapping the starter motor
spare bulbs
Spare relays.
oil
coolant
PAS oil
Sparks
money for beer
Clean stepper before you go
Betcha you won't need any of them
No need to worry about reliability any more than anyone else taking a 10 year old car abroad. I took mine last year and it ran beautifully, i actually saw at least one Porsche, a Lotus, and a Supra all having a few problems, and heard of a Fezza loosing it's water pump, but no one mentioned any TVR problems.
Once your car is over 5 years old, all the little factory quirks should have been ironed out, and it's then largely down to how well your car is maintained. Do a service before you set off, check all the fluid levels, just like you would any other car, put the roof panel in the boot, pack your luggage on top, and just enjoy the trip.....
But as an extra insurance policy, take out European recovery cover..
ps, Hexham HC prepared me a 'touring kit' last year including all the things which you may need (fuses including the 100A one, accelerator cable, drive belt, temperature sender...etc,). The kit was provided on the basis that if i needed anything it was there, and i would just pay for anything used when i brought it back. May be worth speaking to your local dealer, and hopefully they will be as helpful as HHC.

Thank heavens for like minded people.
I am also taking the Chim for the first time and have been worrying like mad about the reliability. However the exitement of the trip is far greater.
I feel a lot happier after reading the posts and look forward to seeing many TVR's on route and at the track.
Good luck all, see you there.

After posting this thread it’s nice to know I am not the only one taking an old Chimaera to Le Mans.
The car will have a full service before the trip and I will be taking lots of essential parts. However like Paul, Phil and john I am also more excited about the trip thanks for your responses keep them coming.
Over the weekend do the TVR’s tend to congregate at any particular part of the track?

I'll be going in my 97 4.0 Chimaera.
After Le mans we're heading down to the Cote D'Azur for a couple of days and then along to Lake Garda before coming back over the Alps (Stelvio Pass probably)
Can't Wait
Would like to know how that goes!!

Argoose, What does a Chim with 350 lights look like then? Seen plenty of Tuscan light jobs but this sounds interesting.
I love the looks of the Chim but also the front end of a 350. Im intrigued.
Lets have a picture!
PS Id love to see what a Tamora with 350 nose and Chimaera arse looks like but maybe Im just odd
