Home clutch change.
Discussion
Anyone done this? My clutch release arm has sheared at the pivot point, and I going to try and fit the new one myself. Exhaust off, drop the prop, then unbolt the box and bellhousing. It seems relatively straightforward - has anyone done this before? Any tricks I should know?

The gear linkage will need to be removed to allow the box to be drop. To do this you'll first need to remove the centre console which is quite straight forward, just loosen the handbrake mech off to allow the lever to go vertical. Then you'll see the linkage.
The bolts fixing the bell housing to the block at the top might be a bit of a pain.
Follow the bible and you won't go to far wrong, you obviously know what you're doing or wouldn't be attempting it in the first place.
I've read that the clutch release arms can break, I thought it was a bit hard to believe but changed mine while it was out anyway. Glad I did now!
Best of luck

I have done it, about a year ago now. Its a relatively straight forward job:
1) drop the exhaust
2) drop the prop shaft
3) remove centre tunnel from inside car
4) remove centre section of GRP from tunnel top (usually held in with self tappers and sealant)
5) disconnect remote gear linkage
6) underneath the car on the top of the bell housing is a rose joint, disconnect the rod by undoing the nut at the end.
7) unbolt the gear box from the bell housing, makes manipulation easier, drain gear box first. You may have a problem here as the bell housing is Ali and the G/B is steel.
8) disconnect the slave cylinder and plunger, push out of the way.
9) remove bell housing and the release fork is in the bell housing.
10) reassembly is the reverse, just with plenty of copper grease.
Took me about a day for the whole job. If you don't feel up to it a good independent will charge about £700 to change the clutch as well.
